Duet Group, the global alternatives investment specialist, engaged Peregrine to raise the profile of its Emerging and Frontier Markets funds amongst target audiences in the US.

The brief also included the redesign of marketing collateral and design support for investor events.

Duet Group, asked Peregrine Communications to assist with the development and execution of a marketing and international media relations campaign. The approach was to be strategic, very targeted and boost brand awareness of their Dubai based EM/Frontier fund, the best performing Frontier fund globally in 2015 according to eVestment.

Objectives

To produce a cost-effective marketing and communications campaign that pulls to the forefront the key drivers behind the fund being a leader in Frontier Market investing via persuasive and easily absorbable visual designs, messaging, and targeted media relations efforts.

Strategy

Peregrine created a differentiated fund story and memorable look for Duet, developed enhanced brand guidelines that emphasized the firm’s investing thesis and edge including:

  • Refined logotype
  • Typestyles
  • Use of colors
  • Formatting styles

Peregrine’s in-house creative team worked with Duet to target appropriate designs that invoked the fund’s investment strategy and differentiators. Peregrine’s content specialists re-wrote the Frontier Fund presentation (pitch-deck) to draw out Duet’s competitive edges, investment opportunity, and investor benefits. Elements included:

  • Tailoring of presentations to various investor groups
  • PowerPoint and Word document/PDF design
  • Factsheets
  • Monthly/Quarterly reports for investors
  • US media tour with fund manager visiting institutional facing press.

Results

A new and distinct set of corporate and visual messages/materials for the fund. These were quickly incorporated into all communications and operations.

Produced unique invitations for a Duet event on the sidelines of the Context Miami conference.

Media relations campaign, which included introductions with the most influential financial journalists resulted in multiple profiles in Barron’s and Bloomberg, contributed articles in Institutional Investor and Pensions & Investments, and expert commentary in The Wall Street Journal.

Resulting articles led to dozens of reverse inquires and new business leads and an eventual AUM increase.

Duet was the first firm the new emerging/frontier market editor at Institutional Investor spoke to and developed an ongoing relationship with, and led to feature articles being published.
