Peregrine at the HedgePo Investors Choice Hedge Fund Awards 2014
Peregrine, the marketing communications agency focused on brand building, brand protection and lead generation within the asset management sector, was the strategic partner of the HedgePo Investor Choice Awards, and sponsored the after dinner drinks at the Peregrine Vodka Bar.
HedgePo, the invitation-only hedge fund and investor web portal, announced the winners of its Investors Choice Awards at the Dorchester Hotel on the evening of 25 March. Jabre Capital Partners, PSAM FundLogic and Meadows Capital Management won the major awards of the night, being the Fund of the Year, UCITS Fund of the Year and the Emerging Fund of the Year, respectively. Jabre Partners in fact took three awards on the evening, also winning the Global Equity Fund of the Year and Global Multi-Strategy Fund of the Year awards. The awards were announced by Karen Tso, anchor of CNBC Squawk Box. Over 300 people, including over 150 investors, attended the sold out event.
“It was a great night, and the increased number of investors and hedge funds attending this year, shows how these awards, perhaps more than any other in this space, are really valued by the industry.”
Hedge fund marketing communications guru Anthony Payne was caught on the hop at last night’s HedgePo Investor Choice Awards when he started bidding for Mike Tyson’s boxing glove – he told Gabriella Griffith, Diary Editor of City A.M.’s The Capitalist he liked Tyson’s line “Everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face” and started bidding for the gloves under the influence of a rather nice claret. Things got worse when summoned to present the award for best systematic manager, Payne, thinking all he had to do was open the golden envelope, was greeted by Karen Tso as he walked onto the stage with the spine chilling words to the assembled crowd of 400 hedgies: “And now Mr Payne will say a few words”. “Yes it did feel like a punch in the face!”, he told The Capitalist later while nestling into a Peregrine Martini at the Peregrine sponsored vodka bar.
Ryan Kalish, co-founder of HedgePo said, “It was a great night, and the increased number of investors and hedge funds attending this year shows how these awards, perhaps more than any other in this space, are really valued by the industry.”
