Peregrine Perspectives: Is there more to risk management than cash, equities and bonds?

Peregrine Perspectives

The financial crisis split the financial community into two camps when it comes to risk management. There are those who see traditional portfolio construction and risk management tools like cash, equity and bonds as inadequate for the job in today’s world and others who believe modern tools are too complex and hide far too many problems away from sight. To this end, the panel discussed the trend in asset management toward greater diversification within investment portfolios and examined some of the structures and assets companies are using when either packaging investments or constructing portfolios. Representatives on the panel were Lee Robertson, CEO of Investment Quorum, Neil Jamieson of ETF Securities, Morgan Stanley’s Marc Chamberlain, and Head of Portfolio Management for Iveagh Investment House Chris Wyllie.
