Peregrine’s head of research, Ermanno Mattio, appeared yesterday on the award winning ‘N@ked Short Club’ radio programme on Resonance104.4fm. Hosted by ‘Dr. Stu’ (Stuart Macdonald), every Monday from 21:00-22.00, the show brings together leading industry experts for an hour’s panel discussion about the hedge fund industry and world economy.
Ermanno was joined by: Richard Watkins (CEO, Liability Solutions); Dr. Peter West (MD/Head of Research, PAM Global); Daniel Page (MD, Cornerman); Stephen Pope (CEO, Spotlight) and Christen Thomson (Head of External Affairs, AIMA).
Ermanno spoke on how industry attitudes should change with regards to the power of communication. Whereas before the financial crisis funds could raise funds and generate performance far more easily, it is now crucially important to differentiate your investment ‘edge’, so that: “you are not in a position where you read an article, in which a manager is talking to you via a journalist, you get to the bottom of the article and say ‘so big what?’, meaning: please do tell me something I haven’t already read twenty times!”.
