Peregrine Communications has been named as the Best Global Marketing and Communications Agency for the ninth consecutive year at The Hedge Fund Journal Awards held in London on February 7.

Peregrine CEO, Anthony Payne, also received recognition on the night for his Outstanding Contribution in Marketing Communications.

Paul Jaffa, presenting the Outstanding Contribution award, cited Payne’s 16 years of achievement in serving hedge funds and other clients since founding Peregrine in 2003. He noted that Peregrine’s 37 employees currently serve over 60 clients from its London and New York hubs, and have served over 300 hedge fund clients, making the firm a leader in alternative fund marketing communications.

“What differentiates Peregrine is its holistic integration of marketing and digital/crisis communications capability with full in-house graphic/web design services,” Payne said in accepting the Outstanding Contribution award. “Our latest innovation is a diagnostic communications analytics methodology which we recently launched after three years of investment and development.”

The analytics methodology was underpinned in the recent Connected Content report – What the top Asset Managers reveal about Integrated communications published in November, 2018.

The recognition is Payne’s latest in a multi-award winning corporate and financial communications consulting career spanning more than 25 years’ experience of working with clients on strategies for communicating with print, online and broadcast media, employees, investors and analysts.

Originally trained as a lawyer, from 1990 to 1998 Payne was based in Asia, first in Hong Kong with Burson-Marsteller as head of their financial communications team, and then in Thailand as country head of the firm’s office there. He also held a global role in B-M’s financial practice.

Payne’s varied marketing communications experience includes advising OM Group on their bid for the London Stock Exchange (this campaign won the award for Best Financial Communications Campaign in 2001) and integrated marketing communications campaigns for Brevan Howard, Harvest Asset Management, EI Sturdza Asset Management and Wells Fargo Asset Management, among others.

Payne is acknowledged as an expert in providing messaging and branding to asset management firms, and as a crisis communications specialist.
